The Hewitt Brothers - casualties of WW1

The story of William and George, who died in the early stages of the war

This page contains information relating to the Hewitt brothers who are commemorated in a plaque in St Fillan's Church, Aberdour, and on the war memorial outside the Church Hall. We are grateful to David Graham for making available this material.

Scroll slowly through this page to see a series of reproductions of information stored at the National Archives, Kew, which tell the tragic story of the deaths of the two brothers, within a few weeks of each other, and of their Father's struggle to find out what had happened to them.

If you scroll to the bottom of the page there is a link that will allow you to download a pdf of a document containing all of these images.
