The Aberdour Cultural Association was set up at an inaugural meeting in July 2010 and its aim is to initiate and promote artistic, cultural and associated activities within Aberdour and the surrounding areas, for example, art, drama, music, written and spoken word, film, local history.
We run our own projects and events - for example, regular talks in a local pub - and also aim to support members of the local community who have an idea that fits within the broad description of 'cultural'. We originally set ourselves up as a constituted body in order to apply for funding to support the installation of a poetry trail in Aberdour, the poems having been written during an earlier Aberdour Festival. While we were doing this, we realised that there may be other people with similar ideas and that we might provide an "umbrella" under which they could progress their ideas.
We meet informally once a month, usually on a Monday or Tuesday evening, in Aberdour. If you have an idea that you may like some help with getting off the ground, do come along to a meeting or contact us through the link on our website.
Current Committee members are: Andy Oldfield (Chair), Alison Chapman (Secretary & Treasurer), Diana Maxwell and Simon Taylor. New members always welcome!
